Leane Marchese has been named the new Executive Director of the Beach and Bay Family YMCA in Pacific Beach, the organization announced recently. Marchese was chosen for the role after an extensive search, and effectively serving as the branch’s interim Executive Director for the past six months.

“Leane is a tremendous asset to the Y and to our community at-large,” said Lisa D’Angelo, Area Vice President for the YMCA of San Diego County. “The Y’s vision is to expand its presence in San Diego's beach and bay communities by building a state-of-the-art YMCA fitness center in Pacific Beach. With Leane’s leadership and operational experience, we are looking forward to bringing this vision to life.”

Marchese served as Regional Associate Executive Director for five years at the Mission Valley YMCA. Her contributions were instrumental in impacting program growth in the areas of youth development and family programs. She began her Y career at the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA in Encinitas as a camp counselor and progressed through the ranks. She has experience in nonprofit management, fund development, community partnerships and building highly-productive teams, which included a decade-long stint as Executive Director at ElderHelp.

“I’ve dedicated much of my career to strengthening communities through programs that foster youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” said Marchese. “I’m looking forward to continuing this work at the Beach and Bay Family YMCA.”

Marchese received her Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management from California State University, Chico. She also earned a Master degree in Community Services and Recreation from Clemson University. She holds an extensive portfolio of professional leadership certifications.

In addition to her passion for the Y, Marchese enjoys hiking, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
