ORGANIZATIONAL RELEVANCE

  • Completed our first Association Theory of Change, training for our senior leadership is being completed in April. The Theory of Change is operationalization of our mission and vision through evidence-informed and evidence-based services that meet documented community needs.
    • Focused on children’s mental health, social determinants of health, and systems-level change.
    • Focused on staff becoming life-long leaders in well-being by supporting their well-being first and foremost.
  • The well-being committee has launched, and each location is determining the path to becoming a Center of Well-Being. We’re committed to focusing on areas impacting the well-being of all by addressing social determinants of health with an evidence-based approach. Our strategic and measured effort is our mission in action - ensuring that all individuals have access to resources, support, modern facilities and amenities in an environment that encourages well-being, positive youth development, connection and a sense of community.
  • The Positive Youth Development pilot sites have been selected and will begin the new approach starting with our summer camps at these four locations. Our approach to PYD is strategic, tested and measured. Our Y provides practical tools for all Y staff to support the well-being of youth in all Y programs and services. By engaging authentically, challenging growth, expanding interests, managing goals, promoting peer bonds, and sharing power, our Y will positively impact youth’s mental, physical and emotional well-being, combating the growing health crisis in our community.
  • Launched the first phase of Traction Rec, our new customer service and data software. We are on our schedule to launch case management and donor management in the spring of 2023.
  • Developed our child care growth strategy.
  • Published in the journal Children and Youth Services Review, "Improving Health Connections in Under-Resourced Youth: A YMCA San Diego Mental Health Initiative," explores the experiences of youth at YFS through our Connections 2020 program, CAAVE and Positive Youth Development approaches.
