Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Opens New Gymnastics Center in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD – March 1, 2023 – North County gymnasts are jumping and tumbling in a new gymnastics center at the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA in the Palomar Airport neighborhood of Carlsbad.

The newly remodeled, state-of-the-art facility officially opened on March 1 and will increase the number of children who can sign up for the YMCA’s programs and services in coastal North County.

“This new center is a testament of our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Lauren Hall, Regional Executive Director of the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA. “After 25 years in our existing location, this state-of-the-art training facility will provide a much-needed upgrade and allow us to offer more classes and activities than ever before. Our goal is that each and every child who wants to partake in gymnastics has the opportunity to partake in classes at our Y.”

Members of the YMCA gymnastics team have tested and toured the new, flipping and leaping across the newly built floor, foam training pits and equipment.

“Athletes are involved in gymnastics for many hours a day, for long periods of their life, it’s really important that we’re establishing a culture that enables them to meet new friends and become happy, healthy humans in the long term,” said Laura Madamba, Gymnastics Program Director at the Ecke Family YMCA. “Our new center is an incredible climate controlled building, with four foam pits, multi-levels so our younger gymnasts have their own dedicated area and plenty of viewing space for parents to watch their child thrive.”

The Ecke YMCA Gymnastics Center, with its award winning Seawind Gymnastics team, emphasizes individual skill development in a safe, fun and supportive environment. The new center will offer classes and activities for all ages and abilities from toddlers through high school including competitive teams Level 3 – 8.
